A dilemma in Ethics


Have in this ethical dilemma that comes a lot. The idea is the same even though they use different examples. The example is a person has a bomb somewhere, and it threatens to explode and kill 5,000 people. But it will not if you kill a person. Many have the idea that by 5000 is a much greater number than one, then it is good to do.

You can not worry about making people happy. If you were the U.S. president and decide to kill that person, you go to prison for murder. If you do not and if, and only if, the boy the bomb explodes and kills 5,000 people, then their friends and relatives you hate. The solution is you have to be selfish. Being selfish is a good thing, but people say it's a bad thing to you or control you. Say that you try not to be selfish so you decide not to eat. Then you die, but at least it would be selfish.

You could decide not to drink anything because it would be selfish and you should die. You could also decide not to exercise and shorten the life span. You might decide to help others and eat their food for them. Then they will die. You can drink all their liquid and die for them. Also you can exercise for them, but how does that help them. It will only help. It could also be studied to learn something, but then they learn and they will not. To be truly selfless, you could take the test for them, but this is cheating and could get the person being expelled from school.

An example of someone who was unselfish was Adolf Hitler. He could have just enjoyed his money and power. But he decided that he needed to save the German people to get rid of all Jews and the expansion of his country. He gave his life trying to do this. Then there were the Muslim terrorists uninterested in the plans that they knew they were going to die, but did not want to be selfish and worry about yourself. They wanted to help their fellow terrorists and have become heroes among them.

Now they say there was a heaven or hell for eternity. It is not selfish for you to enter heaven themselves. You can not do the work for someone else to get into heaven, shall be selfish and go alone. The Bible says that God helps those who help themselves. Well, help yourself is not selfish. There is a saying in personal growth seminars Insight. This is "Take care of yourself so we can take care of others." "You can take care of number one, number two without trampling." Note that in America, is number two for feces.

You are responsible for what you do, not for what others do. So, if you kill someone then you are responsible. If someone else kills 5,000 people since it is responsible. Here's how it works. You can not worry about what the other person does. There is a chance that he will still kill the 5000 after killing the person. There's also a chance that he will decide or not to be able to kill 5,000 people.

Do not you have to live with that person that killed 5,000 people, but you will have to live with themselves. The person may also decide that if you do what he wants, he will tell you that you made the wrong decision and killing 5,000 people. And then if you do not do what he wants, he says that you made the right choice and not to detonate the bomb.

The example could also be more personal when someone takes the family hostage and says that he will kill your family unless you go to kill someone. But once you are responsible for what you do and is not responsible for what another person does. Now, with regard to hypothetical examples that happened to me when I was 20 years. Now do not be disturbed by what would have happened if you were in this position because maybe it happened to me because I was able to deal with it.

My mother tried to kill himself, but I stopped her. It was not the first time tried this because he was unhappy for life. After attempting to kill herself she threatened me and told me that if you do not stop doing the meditation I was doing, then she would kill herself. I told her to go since she is the one who will be responsible for it and you will have to pay for it.

I told her maybe later he died, perhaps a part of her will still be able to hear things and you will pay a terrible price for what he had done. I told her that I am responsible for what I do and I gladly and proudly accept this responsibility.

You should have seen the passion in me and has not tried to kill himself, but died of natural causes.
