As you can see, both ebook formats have a number of advantages and disadvantages and the decision may be a bit 'difficult.

The ebook format is best for your project will really depend on your preference. However, it is also important to consider the type of ebook you're creating and the number of pages that contain. For example, if you wrote a manuscript with hundreds of pages and have written in your word processing program, you do not want to waste your time by creating an HTML page for each page of your ebook. The best solution would be to buy Adobe Acrobat and compile your ebook in PDF format. HTML compiled ebooks are best for small projects such as "how-to", "education" or "informational" ebooks.

Another important consideration is your sales plan. If you plan to market your book yourself, then it really does not matter which format to use. However, if you plan to sell your book on one of the ebook publishing sites, many of them only accept ebooks in PDF format.

A good way to cover all the bases is to simply publish your ebook in both formats. Let your customers decide which format you prefer.

In Part 4 of this series, we will focus on designing an ebook in PDF format .......
