How to choose and register a domain for an Internet Marketing

Once you get your web hosting squared away, you're going to have to register a domain name for your new website. I use a web host that also registers domain names. It 's more convenient that way.

It seems there are two schools of thought about the importance of the domain name. We talk about the issues surrounding this.

Some people think you need a memorable domain name, such as companies need a memorable name. My feeling is, yes, this is important, but not so important in the online world as in the offline world.

All this comes back to our discussion on how to get visitors to your site. People do not discover your site by typing the URL. I do not think I've ever had anyone refer me to a site tell me the name of the URL. Unless the scope of a site like Digg and StumbleUpon, the number of people who find a site through a referral should be almost zero. Within Digg or StumbleUpon, yes, sure to discover the sites recommended by your head, but the platform takes care of the details.

Usually, when I read the results of a search on Google, check out the domain name, especially if the material on the site is unclear. So, your domain name could affect traffic that way. Although I do not really think there is going to be too much of a negative impact there either. (Unless there is too much of a disconnect between the content of the page and site name).

When I decide on a domain name look at my main keyword phrase and see if I can get anything that. The brainstorm and make a list of ten or twenty names. I have to go through this process of choosing a good domain name. Although, usually after I've done all this, the name appears only in my head at a random time.

Try to keep the name up to three words. Two would be better, but I do not know if I've been able to think of a name two words that recently has been taken. A good trick to make your name more readable by humans is to put hyphens between words.

This is not a real domain name (or at least I do not believe it, I did not check), but if your site has been modeled on the British trains, and the domain name you want to be [http: / / www.modelenglishtrains.com], it is better to put hyphens between words. Look at how much easier it is to read this: [http://www.model-english-trains.com].

According to the information at Google's Webmaster Tools, the hyphens are easier for search engines to read, too. Moreover, the second URL is much easier for a human to read than the first, and will encourage humans to click on the link to the page from the results page of search engines.

Even if I register my domain names through my web host, you can also search through the domain registration page Yahoo! 's. You can Google it and find it. Either way is fine.

Please consider your domain to end up in one. Com or. Nothing funky Network. If you can not find a standard suffix for the name of your choice, then find another name .......
